Job Description:
Madison College has responded to community needs by expanding childcare services to our Goodman South Campus, where a new Early Learning Center is nearing completion. We are seeking a Child Care Food Specialist to join our team and help launch this exciting new center. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a program built from the ground up and shaped by best practices in early education.
The Child Care Food Specialist plays a key role in supporting early learning programming by preparing meals, food prep and ensuring full compliance with food safety standards and program requirements. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate documentation, adapting meals to accommodate dietary needs and managing efficient kitchen operations, including providing guidance to kitchen staff.
Success in this role requires strong knowledge of food service operations and safety regulations, the ability to prepare meals for diverse dietary needs and the capacity to manage multiple tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment. Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential to fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
This is a full-time, onsite position, Monday through Friday, scheduled 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Accountabilities:
- Develops and implements cycle menus by creating meal plans that comply with food program requirements, maintaining accurate production records and ensuring proper food purchasing and inventory management to ensure successful administration of the food program.
- Prepares and serves meals by providing breakfast, lunch and snacks, modifying menus for allergies and dietary needs and adjusting meal preparation based on attendance and special events to provide effective nutrition during programming.
- Maintains compliance documentation by completing and submitting required paperwork, including production records, inventory logs meal counts and purchase receipts to ensure accuracy and operational excellence.
- Ensures food safety and sanitation by preventing cross-contamination, monitoring storage and service temperatures and managing expiration dates to maintain a safe food service environment.
- Supports kitchen operations by cleaning and maintaining food preparation areas, utensils and equipment to align with health and safety regulations.
- Provides guidance to kitchen staff by assisting student workers and other kitchen help to ensure adherence to food service standards.
- Contributes to an inclusive, equitable and supportive environment where everyone at the institution feels valued, respected and empowered to reach their full potential.
- Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of food service operations, including menu planning, food preparation and portion control.
- Knowledge of food handling, sanitation and safety regulations.
- Skill in preparing meals that accommodate dietary needs and allergies.
- Skill in using a wide variety of food-service machinery.
- Ability to manage multiple processes, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow standardized procedures and maintain consistency.
- Skill in engaging positively with all populations and communities, contributing to a safe and inclusive learning and work environment.
- Skill in effectively and respectfully communicating with others.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
Experience:
- 0-2 years of relevant experience
Preferred Experience:
- Large scale cooking and childcare experience
